Back at it

Finally! I'm back to updating the blog. There's good news and bad news for everyone who had been following this blog. Good news: you haven't missed much with the build. Bad news: there wasn't much to miss with the build.

I'll post pictures with the next post, this one is just to remind myself and everyone of the state of the build.

We were just coming up to the end of the wiring portion of the build when we ran into some obstacles. We had wired up the dashboard and all our switches and gizmos and fun stuff to plaster the dash with and installed all that. At the same time we installed the heater/blower and the windshield wiper motor.
We cut and glued sound/temperature insulation all around the cockpit, which should make for a more comfortable ride. The transmission tunnel cover was also fitted with cupholders (and American necessity).

Where we got stuck was with the sensors that go on the engine. The build instructions are not very specific to begin with, and it did not help that our engine was different from any other build we could look up on the internet. We couldn't determine exactly where to put the water temp, oil temp, and thermostat switch, and better yet the factory 5 guys were not all that specific when we asked them.

Otherwise we are relatively close to having a full sized go-cart (though I have been saying that for a year now). We have a fuel pipe left to buy and run, the sensors need to be sorted, some other electricals need to be hooked up, the accelerator and clutch cables need to be fixed in, and the seats need to be bolted.
